Theatrical & On Demand Distribution
IFC Films pioneered a distribution model that makes independent films available to a national audience by releasing them in theaters as well as on cable’s Video On Demand (VOD) platform. All three of its distribution labels currently utilize this unique model:
- Established in 2009, Sundance Selects is a leading U.S. distributor of prestige films that focuses on American independents, documentaries and world cinema. Some of the past and upcoming projects the label has worked on are: Abbas Kiarostami’s Cannes prize winner Certified Copy starring Juliette Binoche, Academy Award®-winner Werner Herzog’s 3D Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Academy Award®-winner Errol Morris’ Tabloid, Sundance Film Festival Documentary Audience Award-winner Buck, and Academy Award® winner Helen Mirren and Spike Lee’s Passing Strange: The Movie.
- Established in 2000, IFC Films is a leading U.S. distributor of high profile talent-driven independent film. - Established in 2010, IFC Midnight is a leading U.S. distributor of genre Films, including horror, science-fiction, thrillers, erotic art house, action and more. Some of the company’s successes have included Tom Six’s controversial horror film The Human Centipede (First Sequence), Lars Von Trier’s Cannes prize winner Antichrist starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe, and Super starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler and Kevin Bacon.
IFC Productions:
- IFC Productions is a feature film production company that provides financing for select independent film projects. Some of the company’s notable credits have included Academy Award®-winning Boys Don’t Cry and Night Listener with Toni Collette.
IFC Center:
- IFC Center is a five screen, state-of-the-art cinema with luxurious seating and HD digital and 35mm projection that shows art-house films in the heart of New York’s Greenwich Village. Bringing the very best in new foreign-language, American independent and documentary features to NYC audiences, IFC Center is also known for its innovative repertory series and festivals, including the DOC NYC documentary film festival launched in 2010; showing short films before its regular features in the ongoing "Short Attention Span Cinema" program; special events such as the guest-programmed "Movie Nights;" and frequent in-person appearances by filmmakers.
