Joins Hank Azaria In Comedy Focused On Disgraced Broadcaster Trying To Rebuild From The Bottom
New York, NY – May 13, 2016 – IFC today announced that Amanda Peet (Togetherness, The Good Wife, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) has joined the cast of its forthcoming comedy Brockmire, from Funny Or Die, starring and executive produced by Hank Azaria as disgraced sportscaster Jim Brockmire, who is trying to rebuild his life and career after an epic on-air meltdown that went viral before there was viral, trended before there were trends and gained immediate international notoriety. The season of eight 30-minute episodes will premiere on IFC in 2017.
Peet will play Jules, the strong-willed owner of a struggling minor league baseball team located in a small American rust belt town that has seen better decades.
“Amanda will bring her extraordinary comedic sensibility to the role of Jules and her chemistry with Hank Azaria will be a home run for Brockmire,” said Jennifer Caserta, IFC president.
In Brockmire, Hank Azaria is a famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife’s serial infidelity. A decade later, Jim Brockmire decides to reclaim his career and love life in a small town, calling minor league baseball for the Morristown Frackers.
Brockmire originally appeared as a viral short video on the award-winning comedy website Funny Or Die. The series is written by Joel Church-Cooper (Undateable) and will be directed by Tim Kirkby (Veep). It will be executive produced by Azaria, Church-Cooper, Kirkby and Funny Or Die’s Mike Farah and Joe Farrell.
