AMC Networks International Announces Major Expansion of Sundance Channel Global in Latin America With First-Ever Launches in Six Territories

New Launches on Cable Onda, the Biggest Pay-TV Platform in Panama, on Tigo in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Paraguay and Guatemala, on Claro, the Biggest Pay-TV Platform in Colombia and the Dominican Republic

New York, NY – 11 August 2014 – AMC Networks International announced today significant expansion of Sundance Channel Global across Central America with first-ever launches in six new territories. The company has reached agreements with numerous subscription television platforms to launch Sundance Channel across the region. First-ever Sundance Channel launches will take place in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Paraguay. Additional distribution agreements have been reached in Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Peru with the largest pay-TV operators. Today’s news follows Sundance Channel’s successful debut in South America in 2013. The network is also available in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela.

First-ever launches include Panama where it will be seen starting in August in both SD and HD on Cable Onda, the country’s largest pay-TV platform. Sundance Channel Global has also reached an agreement with Millicom to launch Sundance Channel for the first time on Tigo as a 24-hour SD linear service in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala. It will also launch as a 24-hour HD service on Tigo Paraguay. The channel will also launch on Claro, the biggest pay-TV platform in Colombia and the Dominican Republic, as a 24-hour HD linear service.

Sundance Channel is also now available in HD as a 24-hour linear service in Peru on Telefonica’s Movistar, the country’s largest pay-TV operator. Sundance Channel in Latin America is a Spanish language 24/7 linear network featuring a diverse and engaging selection of first run original drama and other iconic programming, award-winning and locally appealing independent films and documentaries. The network is available to pay-TV operators as a standard and high definition linear television channel, VOD service and via mobile and online authenticated streaming.
