“Trace of Evil”, an eight-part crime documentary series exploring how advances in technology have revolutionised detective work, premieres 9th May at 10pm
LONDON, 09 April 2018 – CBS Reality, owned by AMC Networks International – UK and CBS Studios International, has commissioned Monster Films, the team behind last year’s CBS Reality ratings hit “Voice of a Serial Killer”, to produce “Murder by the Sea”. This new and exclusive CBS Reality Original series is set to premiere on Monday 21st May at 10pm.
The 6 x 60 series, presented by journalist and true crime author Geoffrey Wansell (“Voice of a Serial Killer”) examine some of the strangest and most terrifying murders ever recorded in British criminal history taken place at the UK’s famous seaside resorts; locations which, despite their associations with carefree holidaymaking, have also played host to the most remarkable crimes of murder.
Cases and featured locations include: Stephen Akinmurele of Blackpool, who remains Britain’s most prolific young serial killer; Paul Longworth, the former Commodore of Southport Sailing Club who murdered his wife claiming she had committed suicide; and Terry Clifton, who was jailed for life for Morecambe’s so-called ‘Garage Murders’.
“Trace of Evil” produced by Peninsula Television (“Teens Who Kill”, “Uncovering Intimate Partner Abuse”) premieres on Wednesday 9th May at 10pm. Out of the 26 episodes commissioned up front, the first season consists of 8 parts. The series demonstrates how advances in technology have revolutionised detective work, as seen through a number of high profile cases. Comprised of key witness testimonies, interviews, reconstructions, and archive footage, the cases featured in the series include the murder of Rachel Manning, in which a review of the forensics overturned a wrongful conviction and brought the true killer to justice almost a decade after her murder, and the attacks of the man known as the ‘M25 Rapist’ – brutal crimes that triggered one of the biggest manhunts in British history.
CBS Reality got off to a successful start in 2018: the premiere episode of original series “Donal MacIntyre’s Murder Files” which launched on 7th February, pulled in a record 415,000 adult viewers on average*, producing the best opening week for an original production on the channel.
Other CBS Reality Originals include “Murderers and Their Mothers”, “Killer Clergy”, “Stalkers Who Kill”, “The Day I Should Have Died”, “Teens Who Kill,” “Written in Blood”, “Click for Murder” and “Voice of a Serial Killer”.
