IFC NAMES SALLIE SCHONEBOOM SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

NEW YORK, NY, September 10, 2015 – IFC announced today that it has appointed Sallie Schoneboom senior vice president of public relations, effective immediately.  Schoneboom joins IFC from NBCUniversal where she served as the senior vice president of communications for Syfy and Chiller.  She reports to Ellen Kroner, executive vice president and chief communications officer for AMC Networks Inc., IFC’s parent company, and will work closely with IFC President and General Manager, Jennifer Caserta.  Schoneboom is based in the network’s NYC headquarters.

“Sallie is a seasoned communications executive with extensive experience across every area of television public relations,” said Kroner.  “She is a terrific addition to the IFC senior leadership team, and joins the team as the network continues to expand its original programming slate and work with some of the biggest names in comedy.”

In her new role, Schoneboom will oversee the development and implementation of strategic consumer media relations, program publicity and talent relations for the growing comedy brand, home to Portlandia, Documentary Now!, Maron and Comedy Bang! Bang!  She will also spearhead IFC’s awards efforts and press events.

At Syfy, Schoneboom led high profile press campaigns for the popular originals Sharknado, Sharknado 2, Defiance and Battlestar Galactica, among others.  She was instrumental in the channel’s brand evolution from Sci Fi to Syfy and a key architect of the network’s award winning digital press tour, the first event of its kind.  Prior to NBCUniversal, Schoneboom was the vice president of media and talent relations at Disney-ABC Television Group where she oversaw publicity for the network’s daytime line-up, including General Hospital, All My Children and One Life to Live; in that role she also helped launch The View.  Schoneboom held previous positions at CBS, Hale and Husted Public Relations and Whole Theatre Company.
