As Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Corporate Communications for AMC Networks Inc., Jim Maiella oversees all business and trade communications in support of the company’s popular and award-winning national networks AMC, BBC AMERICA, IFC, SundanceTV, and WE tv. He also manages communications for the company’s growing AMC Studios operation and assists in the strategy and execution of other corporate communications matters.
Prior to joining AMC Networks in 2013, Maiella spent more than a decade at Cablevision Systems Corp., where he directed all media relations and communications activities in support of the company’s cable business and Optimum-branded products for residential and business customers including TV, broadband, phone, Optimum WiFi and other related services.
Earlier in his career, Maiella worked at the public relations firms Robinson Lerer & Montgomery (now Finsbury) and Rubenstein Associates. He ran all external and internal communications for RCN Corp., a competitive provider of cable, phone and Internet services, and was a Congressional press secretary in Washington, D.C. He started out as a journalist, reporting for The Los Angeles Daily News, New York Newsday and The Los Angeles Times.
Maiella currently chairs the communications steering council of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM). He is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York, NY.
