As Head of Business Affairs for the AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios Rafael Gomez is charged with oversite of the business affairs of leading entertainment brands AMC, BBC America, IFC, and SundanceTV. In his role he oversees the negotiation of development and production agreements. Located in the company’s Santa Monica office, Gomez reports directly to Sarah Barnett, President of the AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios.
Previously, Gomez served as Senior Vice President and Head of Business Affairs and Original Programming at NBCUniversal’s Peacock. Prior to that Gomez managed Business Affairs for USA Network and SYFY where he negotiated writer-producer agreements, rights agreements, and finalized deals with everyone from directors to above-the-line talent. Gomez joined NBCUniversal in 2008.
He began his career in entertainment as a production attorney on The Office and House M.D. Prior to that, he was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Gomez holds a J.D. from Harvard Law and a B.A. in Finance and Economics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
