Today’s announcement comes on the heels of significant original programming activity from AMC over the past year, including the network’s first original drama series, Mad Men, from writer/producer Matthew Weiner (The Sopranos) slated to premiere in Summer 2007; the remake of the 1960s groundbreaking television classic The Prisoner, which AMC will co-produce with UK’s Granada and Sky One; a one-hour dramatic pilot Breaking Bad, from writer/producer Vince Gilligan (The X-Files) that follows the story of a desperate man with nothing to lose – and what he is willing to do for his family’s survival; as well as a recently announced development deal for a one-hour untitled western from Walter Hill (award winning director of AMC’s first original movie, Broken Trail) and Ron Parker (Joan of Arc).
