Fox Sports Net Welcomes David Heffernan to University of Miami Football Telecast Team

(SUNRISE, FL) – Former University of Miami football standout David Heffernan has been named color analyst for Fox Sports Net's 2002 Hurricanes football game telecasts. Jeff Genthner, Fox Sports Net's Senior Vice President and General Manager made the announcement today.

Heffernan, a member of the 1983 Hurricanes National Championship team under coach Howard Schnellenberger, will provide expert color analysis for University of Miami football telecasts on Fox Sports Net. He joins veteran play-by-play announcer Frank Forte in the broadcast booth for the 2002 season.

"We are thrilled to welcome David as our color analyst for Fox Sports Net's University of Miami football telecasts," said Genthner. "His first-hand experience and knowledge of the Hurricanes and Frank Forte's expertise in the broadcast booth will provide viewers with exceptional coverage of the Canes this season."

Heffernan graduated the University of Miami in 1984 and moved on to the NFL, where the Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in the seventh round. During his professional football career he also played for Tampa Bay. His broadcasting career began in 1993 when he began as the radio color analyst for the Hurricanes on WIOD. Heffernan also hosted a weekend sports talk show for two years on WQAM.

University of Miami Hurricane games, produced by Fox Sports Net, will air on tape delay Sundays at 5:00pm.
