Independent Film Channel is the Place to be for Coverage of Prestigious Cannes Film Festival

Exclusive Broadcast Includes Live Coverage of Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and 11-Day Cannes on IFC Film Festival

NEW YORK, May 3, 2004– Bonjour! Is your French a little rusty? Let The Independent Film Channel (IFC) bring the Riviera to your living room with Cannes on IFC, featuring exclusive coverage of the world?s most prestigious film festival and an 11-day feast of favorites films from past Cannes events.

Cannes on IFC will include:

  • Exclusive live coverage of red carpet arrivals and opening day ceremonies, Wednesday, May 12, 1PM/ET. Commentator Alison Bailes and Cannes Film Festival expert Annette Insdorf will host the festivities.
  • Exclusive live coverage of the festival?s awards presentation and closing ceremonies, hosted by film critic Roger Ebert and Insdorf on Saturday, May 22 at 1:00PM/ET.
  • An 11-day presentation of past favorites from Cannes, including Tommy, Apocalypse Now Redux and The Anniversary Party, running from May 12 through May 22 [please see below for a complete list of titles featured on the Cannes on IFC Film Festival].
  • A special Cannes edition of the IFC original monthly series, At The Angelika, airing in June. Hosted by Bailes, the special will include a wrap-up of the festival as well as U.S. releases. Bailes also will host a series of Cannes highlight interstitials that will air throughout the year on IFC.
