Exclusive Premiere of “Exhibit 13” Blue Man Group’s Video Tribute to The Victims and Heroes of 9/11

(Premieres 8:50am EST Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Reairs Every Hour on the Hour)

New York, NY – August 21, 2002 – muchmusic usa, the only viewer driven independent music network, announced today that it will premiere “Exhibit 13,” an original, groundbreaking, and thoughtful music video created by the Blue Man Group, which artistically and creatively tributes the victims and heroes of 9/11. The three and a half minute original piece will debut exclusively on muchmusic usa at 8:50a.m. EST on Wednesday, September 11, and repeat every hour for the rest of the day. muchmusic usa will be commercial free on September 11.

A poignant and symbolic reminder of the far reaching and personal destruction of the events of 9/11, the music video “Exhibit 13” begins with the following words “The following pieces of paper blew into the Carroll Gardens neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York,” and features a plain black screen that is slowly showered with these pieces of paper. Each piece of paper, from handwritten notes and personal calendars to memos written in Japanese and business receipts, was originally from the Ground Zero site and retrieved from the neighborhood park in Brooklyn following the devastating attacks on New York City’s World Trade Center.

“This is a highly emotional music video,” stated muchmusic President Marc Juris. “By communicating without words, but through music and visual imagery, the Blue Man Group has used their creative voice to emphasize the tremendous sorrow and tragedy of 9/11. We are proud to have the opportunity to share this music video with our viewers and know that everyone who sees it will be moved just as we were.”

Although the Blue Man Group has in the past found it difficult to capture the sights and sounds of the Blue Man experience in a recorded format, they made an exception with “Exhibit 13.” Created as a way of expressing their personal feelings about the events of 9/11, and not originally meant as a public offering, this video by The Blue Man Group offers a stark contrast to their other artist endeavors.
