Name Industry Vet Ed Palluth, SVP International Distribution Company to Represent Newly-Acquired Sundance Channel for First Time at MIPCOM
CANNES, FRANCE, OCTOBER 14, 2008 – Rainbow Media Holdings LLC announced it has added three senior executives to its international team and it will represent the Sundance Channel for the first time at MIPCOM. Rainbow Media continues to internationally manage programming, sales, and brand extensions across multiple platforms in conjunction with third party sales partners and seek in-market business opportunities such as joint ventures and co-productions.
Rainbow Media’s first international sales representation of the Sundance Channel follows its acquisition of the network in June. Founded by Robert Redford, the Sundance Channel offers a diverse and engaging selection of films, documentaries and original series. The network’s original programming provides a mix of series and specials that promote artistic freedom of expression and the impact that expression can have on our world. Since launching its global expansion initiative in October 2005, sales of Rainbow Media properties have included more than 1,000 hours of programming from its VOOM HD, WE tv, and IFC brands to broadcasters around the world, including China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Australia, New Zealand and India.
As Rainbow Media continues to expand its international efforts, it has named Ed Palluth, an industry veteran and long-time Rainbow Media executive, senior vice president, International Distribution. Mr. Palluth has more than 22 years of experience in media distribution, and was most recently a senior vice president of Affliate Sales for Rainbow Media. In this role, he oversaw affiliate activities in the U.S. central region and was responsible for negotiating agreements with leading MSOs for the Company’s national entertainment brands including AMC, IFC, WE tv. He was also involved in the Company’s distribution initiatives involving new media platforms.
Additionally, Marco Frazier and Pepe Martin have been retained as consultants by Rainbow Media, with a focus on growing international distribution of Rainbow Media’s entertainment brands, including AMC, WE tv, IFC and Sundance Channel. Mr. Frazier, a former vice president of affiliate sales for Rainbow Media, is a seasoned media executive with nearly 20 years of experience , including launching five pay tv channels in Europe and leading the affiliate sales and distribution team for ESPN Classic Europe. He will lead the company’s distribution activities in Europe. Pepe Martin has more than 10 years of experience in media distribution, and previously served as vice president of Affiliate Sales for Rainbow Media. Based in Madrid, Mr. Martin will head the company’s distribution efforts in Latin America and Spain.
These executives join Harold Gronenthal, General Manager, Program Acquisitions and International Development, Rainbow Media. Mr. Gronenthal continues to be responsible for the international management of Rainbow Media’s entertainment brands, AMC, IFC, WE tv and Sundance Channel.
