A Closer Look at the Black Experience with 9th Annual Black History Month Campaign
We are honored to celebrate Black History Month once again in 2022 with the rollout of its 9th annual award-winning Black History Month PSA campaign, in partnership with members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and Color of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization.
The PSAs, featuring CBC Chairwoman Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), House Majority Whip Rep. James E. Clyburn (D-SC), Rep. André Carson (D-IN), Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL), Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA), Rep. Don Payne Jr.(D-NJ), and Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA), are themed “a closer look at the Black experience,” and address pressing issues ranging from protecting voting rights to the importance of portrayals of Black joy and success in media.
The spots will begin airing on February 1st across the company’s national networks, including AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, and WE tv, along with streaming service ALLBLK and run throughout the month of February.
AMC Networks Celebrates Black History On-Screen
Throughout February we will also be celebrating Black History Month across our linear networks and streaming platforms with special programming events, collections, and custom digital content.
AMC+ will once again host “Black Stories & Storytellers,” a collection of critically acclaimed documentaries, feature films, and series available all month long including AMC+’s original series Anne Boleyn, starring NAACP Image Award nominee Jodie Turner-Smith, film classics like The Hurricane, and A Raisin in the Sun, and celebrated documentaries The Stand: How One Gesture Shook the World, and Natural Hair: The Movie.
ALLBLK, our streaming service dedicated to Black content and creators will celebrate Black love with a video series featuring ALLBLK talent answering questions about love and relationships. The spots will roll out weekly throughout February.
This is in addition to activity across many of the rest of our brands including the linear premiere of Horror Noire on AMC, a celebration of BHM with Sherman’s Showcase on IFC, a lineup of series and films on SundanceTV like The Color Purple and Malcolm X, and the latest installment in the Can We Talk About This? documentary series featuring The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306.
