Los Angeles, CA – July 19, 2012 – The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced this morning the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy® Award nominations, recognizing AMC with 34 nominations, the most for any basic cable network for the fifth year in a row, breaking the previous 29 nomination record for the network from 2011. AMC holds record with A&E as the most nominated basic cable networks of all time with 164 nominations. "Mad Men," which reigns as the only television series in cable history to win the Emmy® for Outstanding Drama Series four years in row (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011), continues to be the most Emmy® nominated drama series on television. This year the series garnered 17 nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Jon Hamm, Outstanding Actress for Elisabeth Moss, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Jared Harris, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Christina Hendricks, Outstanding Directing for Phil Abraham and three Outstanding Writing noms, making it the most nominated basic cable drama series ever.

AMC's "Breaking Bad," which garnered a third consecutive Emmy for Bryan Cranston as Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and an Emmy for Aaron Paul as Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2010, received 13 nominations, including repeat noms for Cranston and Paul; first-time nominations for Giancarlo Esposito and Anna Gunn for Outstanding Supporting Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actress, respectively; Outstanding Guest Actor for Mark Margolis and Outstanding Directing for Vince Gilligan. "The Walking Dead" received 3 nominations, including Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie Or A Special. "Hell on Wheels" received 1 nomination making every single scripted drama series in AMC's history to be recognized by the Academy.
