AMC NETWORKS INTERNATIONAL – CENTRAL EUROPE’S SPORT1 AND SPORT2 ANNOUNCE EXCLUSIVE FORMULA 1 DEAL

AMC Networks International – Central Europe, which operates Sport1 and Sport2, reached a 3-year exclusive deal, commencing March 2015, to broadcast all Formula 1 races in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The deal covers the 2015, 2016 and 2017 F1 seasons and will see Sport1 and Sport2 show live coverage of all races and qualifying sessions of the F1 season. F1’s support races, GP2 and GP3, will be broadcast as well. The deal includes the exclusive rights for the British documentary “Formula 1 Legends”. The 19 episodes feature among others, Sir Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mika Hakkinen, Eddie Ervine and Ayrton Senna.

F1 is yet more premium and exclusive content for Sport1 and Sport2 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, topping the already impressive list of the UEFA EC and WC qualification matches, Spanish football “La LIGA” and Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). For the KHL, Sport1 achieved the highest award for a television broadcast production company.

“I am convinced that these premium rights will mark our commitment to the greatest international and national sporting moments. F1 is one of the most attractive sporting events in the world and we will treat it with the deserved attention” – stated AMC Networks International Central Europe’s CEO Levente B. Málnay.

“With all these highly popular programs, our sports channels will continue to be among the strongest and most attractive thematic television brands” – Country manager for the Czech Republic & Slovakia, Evzen Chlanda commented on the deal. “Our production team will again provide a great viewing experience for the F1 fans. Besides live coverage, there will be highlights and a pit-lane reporter to provide further exclusive content.”

AMC Networks International – Central Europe is proud to deliver F1 to its viewers, as it is one of the top rated sporting programs in these countries. F1 generates an average reach of over 1 million people* per each Grand Prix broadcast in the Czech Republic.

Further details on the presenters and coverage team for the 2015 F1 season will be announced in the near future.
