AMC Scores Ratings Success with The Last Samurai

Provides Platform for Upcoming Premiere of AMC's First Original Movie Event, Broken Trail

New York, NY, June 20, 2006 – On Saturday June 17th, AMC's airing of The Last Samurai (8p-11:15p) delivered a stellar 1.94 HH rating and ranked among AMC's top 20 strongest rated telecasts ever. The movie delivered over 1.7 million homes and was the #2 telecast airing in primetime on basic cable, as well as the #3 telecast on basic cable for the day.

Following are highlights from the Saturday night premiere of The Last Samurai:

  • The Last Samurai delivered a 1.94 HH RTG and ranked as AMC's 20th strongest rated telecast ever.
  • The movie delivered over 1.7 million homes and was the #2 telecast airing in primetime on basic cable and was the #3 telecast on basic cable for the day.
  • The movie delivered 1,060,000 Adults 25-54 and over 2.3 million total viewers, ranked #4 in total viewers among all programs airing on Basic Cable for the day

AMC's first-ever original movie Broken Trail will make its world premiere on June 25 and June 26 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. The epic, western-themed film is executive produced by and starring Academy Award® winner Robert Duvall, co-starring Academy Award® nominee Thomas Haden Church and directed by Emmy award winning director Walter Hill.
