Catch Florida’s Baseball Action As Fox Sports Net Swings Into April With An Unstoppable Programming Lineup

SUNRISE, FL -Fox Sports Net Florida pitches a winning telecast schedule in April by bringing baseball fans extensive Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays action. Auto racing revs up with more around-the-track entertainment on FSN with live NASCAR qualifying and Winston Cup replays. April also boasts continual NCAA baseball action, the onset of NFL Europe, a University of Miami spring football game, and the PGA and WTA Tours. Panthers fans can catch the Cats face Buffalo at home and Philadelphia and Washington on the road as the NHL coverage comes to a close.

Beginning on Monday April 2nd, Fox Sports Net’s local sports news shows will undergo time changes. Setting the stage for nightly programming will be Florida Sports Tonight at 6:30pm, providing sports fans with a preview of what’s going on around the state that night. Then, at a new time of 10pm, Florida Sports Report will capture the latest news on your favorite Florida team seven nights a week followed by the National Sports Report at 10:30pm.

Fox Sports Net’s coverage of the 2001 Florida Marlins and Devil Rays seasons begin on Wednesday April 4th at 6:30pm with Marlins On-Deck followed by the Marlins hosting the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:05pm. The Marlins 2001 schedule on FSN features 95 telecasts with 39 home games and 56 away match-ups. All season long, veteran broadcasters Dave O’Brien and Tommy Hutton bring all the action and analysis from the booth. Also, Marlins On-Deck, FSN’s 30-minute pregame show, returns with host Jay Randolph. FSN’s two weekly Marlins shows make their season premieres Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th. Marlins Strike Zone, a half-hour of Marlins baseball for kids and their families can be seen Saturdays at 9:30am and Marlins Weekly takes fans on and off the field with the team every Sunday at 9:00am.

FSN’s 64-game coverage of the Devil Rays begins on Thursday, April 5th at Noon when the Rays host the Toronto Blue Jays. Fox Sports Net will feature 34 Rays home contests and 30 road telecasts. Returning to the broadcast booth will be Dewayne Staats and Joe Magrane along with Todd Kalas as host of FSN’s pregame show,Rays On-Deck. FSN’s weekly Rays show, Rays Magazine premieres Sunday, April 8th at 9:30am and takes Rays fans inside the team every week.

Fox Sports Net gets college football fans ready for the upcoming season with a preview of the Hurricanes on April 7th at 10:30pm when Frank Forte and John Congemi call the action during the University of Miami’s spring football scrimmage.

NASCAR programming continues to accelerate as Fox Sports Net heads to Ft. Worth, Texas for continued Winston Cup coverage this Thursday at 4pm with live Bud Pole Qualifying. NASCAR fans can see the Harrah’s 500 from the Texas Motor Speedway during the Winston Cup replay on Monday, April 2nd at Noon. Race fans can count on more excitement from Martinsville, VA for Bud Pole Qualifying, as well as SCCA coverage from Ft. Worth and Sebring and Grand Am Road Racing from Homestead.

Additional highlights on Fox Sports Net Florida includes live coverage of the PGA Tour beginning with the Worldcom Classic from Hilton Head on April 12th and 13th at 3:30pm. FSN will also be serving up live WTA Tour action from Charleston starting April 19th at Noon. NCAA baseball action features the Hurricanes battling Cal-State Fullerton, Florida State, and Virginia. University of South Florida fans can witness two match ups against Cincinnati and Southern Mississippi.

NFL Europe is back and Fox Sports Net kicks off its game of the week telecast schedule live on Saturday, April 21st at 1pm when the Amsterdam Admirals take on the Rhein Fire. The following weekend, the Berlin Thunder face the Frankfurt Galaxy.
