Fox Sports Net Chicago Hires Eric Goodman as Main Anchor of New ‘Regional Sports Report’

Goodman to Also Serve as Main Host of "The Game room" beginning May 16

(CHICAGO)
– FOX Sports Net Chicago today announced the hiring of Eric Goodman as its lead anchor for the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT, the live and local half-hour sports news program debuting this summer. The announcement was made by James J. Corno, FOX Sports Net Chicago’s Senior Vice President/General Manager.

Goodman, who officially begins his duties at FOX Sports Net beginning Monday, May 8, has been one of the primary sports anchors at CNN/SI and CNN for the past three and a half years. Beginning July 17, Goodman will serve as FOX Sports Net Chicago’s lead anchor for the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT at 11:00 PM CT. The REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT is a complement to FOX Sports Net’s NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT which airs at 10:00 PM and midnight CT. The 30-minute regional format will provide a heavy emphasis on key local stories and scores, and also includes important national stories and how they impact local fans.

“Eric has proven himself as one of the finest young sports anchors and studio hosts in the business and we couldn’t be happier to bring him back to his hometown and have him on our team,” said Don Graham, FOX Sports Net Chicago’s Vice President of Programming and Production. “He will be a terrific fit with our already solid on-air team featuring Eric Collins, Gail Fischer and top-flight game analysts as we continue to build a solid on-air line-up leading up to the launch of the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT.”

Beginning May 16, Goodman will also serve as the primary anchor for the majority of The Game Room‘s pre and post-game telecasts for FOX Sports Net’s live coverage of the Chicago White Sox, Cubs, Bulls and Blackhawks, along with hosting non-event nights.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be coming back to Chicago and I can’t wait to begin covering the teams I grew up with,” added Goodman. “It is also exciting to be a part of a local network that’s dedicated to Chicago sports, via its live game coverage, The Game Room and the new REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT. This is truly an exciting time to be a part of what’s going on at FOX Sports Net.”

A native of Northbrook, IL and graduate of Glenbrook South High School, Goodman also served as the pre and post-game show host for Florida Panthers games airing on SportsChannel Florida during the 1997-98 NHL season. Prior to that, he was the lead sports anchor/reporter for WKBW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Buffalo, NY (1994-96) and a weekend sports anchor/reporter at KTKA-TV, the ABC affiliate in Topeka, KS.

Goodman graduated with a degree in telecommunications from Indiana University in 1990.

More news and information regarding the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT’S July 17 debut on FOX Sports Net will be released in the coming weeks.
