Fox Sports Net Florida Announces 2002 Tampa Bay Devil Rays Telecast Schedule

Schedule Includes 64 Regular Season and Two Spring Training Games

(SUNRISE, FL) – Fox Sports Net Florida, the leading regional sports network in the state, today announced a comprehensive telecast schedule for the 2002 Tampa Bay Devil Rays season. Baseball fans throughout the state will enjoy a 64-game regular season cable schedule and two exclusive Spring Training match ups (Complete Rays programming schedule follows).

Tampa Bay Devil Rays Spring Training coverage on Fox Sports Net includes the live telecast of two mid-day games, as the Rays host the Minnesota Twins at Florida Power Park for a special St. Patrick’s Day event on Sunday, March 17 and then take on the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, March 20. Both match ups begin at 1:05pm only on Fox Sports Net Florida.

The 2002 regular season opens on Fox Sports Net Wednesday, April 3 at 7:15pm when the Rays take the field to battle the Detroit Tigers. Fox Sports Net Florida’s remaining Rays telecast schedule features 37 home and 27 away match ups. This season’s highlights include ten games against 2001 American League Champion New York Yankees, nine match ups against Pedro Martinez, Nomar Garciaparra, and the Boston Red Sox, four meetings with Ichiro Suzuki and the Seattle Mariners, and a pair of games against the San Francisco Giants, featuring the 2001 National League MVP and single-season home run king Barry Bonds.

Calling Rays games for Fox Sports Net will once again be Dewayne Staats, celebrating his 26th year in baseball broadcasting. Staats, who provides play-by-play for all games on the network, shares the broadcast booth with Joe Magrane, a 10-year veteran of Major League Baseball. Magrane returns as Fox Sports Net’s color analyst for the Rays fifth season. Todd Kalas, host of the RAYS ON DECK pre-game show, offers a unique perspective with pre-game insight and analysis when the team is on the road. Kalas also serves as a roving reporter during Rays game telecasts.
