Fox Sports Net Ohio And Time Warner Reach New Agreement To Offer Indians and Cavs Games As Part Of Expanded Basic Service

CLEVELAND
– Fox Sports Net Ohio and Time Warner Cable announced a new agreement which will enable over 200,000 additional Northeast Ohio subscribers to receive Indians and Cavs telecasts. Steve Liverani, senior vice president and general manager, Fox Sports Net Ohio made the announcement.

All Time Warner Northeast Ohio cable customers will now be able to receive all Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers games carried by Fox Sports Net Ohio as part of Time Warner’s Expanded Basic Service. Subscribers in Summit, Portage and Medina counties will also receive Columbus Blue Jackets hockey games as part of this service.

While some operational issues still remain, the new long-term agreement will reposition Fox Sports Net Ohio in early Spring 2001.

“We are thrilled to have reached this agreement just in time for our expanded 75-game Indians package,” said Liverani. “With the addition of the Indians and Cavs, all Time Warner cable customers now have the perfect compliment to the 11 p.m. Regional Sports Report and the rest of Fox Sports Net Ohio’s outstanding programming line-up.”

“This is something both sides have been working toward for a very long time,” said Time Warner Northeast Ohio Division President Steve Fry. “We have reached an agreement that is good for all our Northeast Ohio customers.”

In addition to the Indians, Cavs and Blue Jackets coverage on Fox Sports Net Ohio, subscribers will enjoy comprehensive NASCAR action, the latest Ohio sports news on the 11 p.m. Regional Sports Report, and innovative programming such as “Beyond the Glory”, FSN’s new contemporary documentary series.
