FSN Teams Up With The Tampa Bay Devil Rays for Third Annual Fox Sports Net Home Run Challenge on August 16

(SUNRISE, FL) – FSN and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays have teamed up for the third annual
Fox Sports Net Home Run Challenge on Monday, August 16 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Tropicana Field to benefit the Rays of Hope Foundation.

This special event brings the Devil Rays front office, fans, business sponsors and the local media together for an unforgettable time on a major league baseball field while raising funds for the local community. The 2004 Fox Sports Net Home Run Challenge, which is nearly sold out, has already raised more funds than last year’s event. All proceeds will benefit the Rays of Hope Foundation, which is dedicated to the education and welfare of children in the Tampa Bay community.

“We are delighted to return for a third year with the Fox Sports Net Home Run Challenge,” said Jeff Genthner, FSN Florida’s Senior Vice President and General Manager. “We are so pleased to be able to help make a difference in the lives of those in the local community. This year’s event promises to be even more successful as we continue to build a new tradition in Tampa Bay.”

The 2004 Fox Sports Net Home Run Challenge will pit teams of four players against each other. Each team member will receive 30 pitches from a pitching machine and score points based upon the distance from the top 20 hits. The team earning the most cumulative points wins a catered suite at a Devil Rays game, along with bragging rights and a traveling trophy until the 2005 competition.

“This has proven to be a tremendously popular event among our corporate fans. The competition is fierce and the talent is outstanding. Even teams that don’t finish in the top three leave with smiles on their faces, Fox Sports Net has come up with a winner,” said Dick Crippen, Devil Rays’ Executive Director of Community Development and the Rays of Hope Foundation. “The Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the Rays of Hope Foundation, are proud to partner with FSN “over the air” and on the field. It’s a homerun for all involved.”

The Rays of Hope Foundation delivers the presence of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to the community by working with agencies and charitable causes, whose primary emphasis is dedicated to the development, education and welfare of children.
