IFC FILMS ACQUIRES NORTH AMERICAN RIGHTS TO ALEX ROSS PERRY’S QUEEN OF EARTH

NEW YORK, NY (April 14, 2015) – IFC Films announced today that the company is acquiring North American rights to Alex Ross Perry’s QUEEN OF EARTH. The film, written and directed by Perry, stars Elisabeth Moss, Katherine Waterston, Patrick Fugit, Kate Lyn Sheil, Kentucker Audley and Keith Poulson. QUEEN OF EARTH was produced by Perry, Moss, Adam Piotrowicz and Joe Swanberg, and executive produced by Christos V. Konstantakopoulos and Forager Film Company. The film had its world premiere at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival.

QUEEN OF EARTH centers on two best friends who retreat to a lakeside cabin to commiserate over the struggles of the past year.  As they confide in one another, the two discover how far they have drifted apart, and friendship soon gives way to hostility and vitriol.

“Perry has created a fascinating and unnerving psychological portrait, which elicits a career-best performance from Moss, and cements Perry’s status as a filmmaker to watch,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

Says Perry: “I am most excited to be beginning my relationship with IFC Films, a company who has proven themselves peerless in their support of serious and challenging cinema. Joining their roster is humbling, and I am excited to see QUEEN OF EARTH alongside many iconic films and heroic filmmakers.”

Swanberg adds: “I’m thrilled to continue my long and exciting relationship with IFC Films in this new capacity as a producer and enabler of thrilling cinema from incredibly talented filmmakers like Alex Ross Perry.

The deal for the film was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions and Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, and Sean Berney, Manager of Acquisitions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, directly with the filmmakers.

IFC Films is a sister label to IFC Midnight and Sundance Selects, and is owned and operated by AMC Networks Inc.
