IFC Unearths Horror Classics for Fortnight of Fright Friday The 13th in October

Original IFC Documentary “The American Nightmare” Premieres on IFC


The Independent Film Channel (IFC) lets horror loose and probes the masterminds of American independent horror films in the exclusive television premiere of its original documentary, The American Nightmare on Friday, October 13 at 10:00 PM/ET.


IFC’s original documentary, The American Nightmare, features interviews with the masters of the genre (George Romero, Wes Craven, David Cronenberg, Tobe Hooper, John Carpenter) and clips from the most frightening films of all time (Night of the Living Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween). This IFC original, directed by Adam Simon (The Typewriter, the Rifle and the Movie Camera, Carnosaur, Brain Dead), examines the seminal period of the American horror film.


Starting on October 13 and continuing through Halloween night on Tuesday, October 31 stay up with IFC as spine-tingling thrillers and hair-raising horrors abound every night. Mutants and monsters come out of the malls and the mountains and into your living room to keep you from being alone. The American Nightmare is part of IFC’s annual Indie Screams festival.
