IFC’s 4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days Receives Golden Globe Nomination for Best Foreign Film

New York, NY- December 13, 2007 – This morning, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its Golden Globe nominations for 2007. IFC Films was recognized in the Best Foreign Film category for 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS. The film, directed by Cristian Mungiu, is the most lauded international film of the year.

The following is a statement on behalf of IFC Entertainment's President Jonathan Sehring:

"We're thrilled to see that the HFPA has acknowledged Cristian Mungiu's masterpiece, 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS. This nomination further cements that this is the most honored international film of the year and is a coup for filmmakers around the world who make bold, uncompromising films that IFC is proud to be known for."

The film, set in 1987, one of the last years of the Ceausescu regime, follows the story of Otilia (Anamaria Marinca) and Gabi?a (Laura Vasiliu), two university friends in a small town in Romania. When Gabi?a falls pregnant, the two girls arrange a meeting with Mr. Bebe (Vlad Ivanov) in a cheap hotel, where he is to perform an illegal abortion. Transpiring over the course of a single day, Mungiu's film is an immersive masterwork of naturalism, by turns poignant and shocking.
