‘LACE’: MARYAM BASIR, SKYH BLACK, TANYELL WAIVERS, ANTOINE HARRIS, AND TERRELL CARTER TO STAR IN NEW LEGAL DRAMA AT ALLBLK

Los Angeles, CA – ALLBLK (www.ALLBLK.tv) continues pushing forward into new genres with the launch of its first legal drama series, Lace. Kicking off principal photography this week, the upcoming series from the recently rebranded AMC Networks streamer has confirmed the principal cast will be Maryam Basir (The Chi), Skyh Black (Sistas), Tanyell Waivers (Queen Sugar), Antoine Harris (The Breaks), and Terrell Carter (Empire). Following a prolific Los Angeles attorney who often blurs the lines between right and wrong to protect her rich and powerful clientele, the series will also star Taylor Bynoe, Mollie Dolcimascolo, and Isaac Stephen Montgomery in supporting series regular roles. Lace will premiere in late fall of this year.

Lacey McCullough (Basir) is a successful and highly connected attorney whose influence sometimes leads her down a very dark path. With the help of her trusted associates, Othello Charles (Black) and Britney Deveaux (Waivers) – and the ever-efficient twins, Aaron (Harris) and Nora Tuft (Bynoe) – she’s currently involved in one of her most mysterious and perilous cases to date. Directed by Jamal Hill (Brotherly Love), Lace will also feature appearances from Leonard Roberts (Heroes), Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show), Shanti Lowry (Bronx SIU), Chris Attoh (A House Divided), Nate Walker, and Jordan T. Johnson.

“On the set of Will Smith’s I Am Legend in 2007, Jamal Hill and I met as production assistants and promised that one day we’d work together in a greater capacity,” said Lace executive producer Michelle Ebony Hardy. “13 years later, we mark the start of principal photography on Lace – a 2012 brainchild of Katrina Nelson’s that Hollywood wasn’t quite ready for at the time. A full circle moment.”

Series creator Katrina Y. Nelson added, “As we empower our cast to bring Lace to life, and as we develop content in midst of the industry’s latest evolution, we are proud to say that this series – led by two Black women – is now employing many multicultural professionals across cast and crew with a production set that looks much like the world around us.”

Lace is a production of Nelson and Hardy’s joint production imprint, KEMY Time Productions. Silver Lining Entertainment’s Angela White (A Question of Faith) will also serve as producer on the six-episode first season – created by Nelson, Adam Starks (Snowpiercer) and Tracy Grant (Lincoln Heights).
