muchmusic usa Pledges $3.92 to the Lance Bass Space Fund

Network President Offers Himself to Help Broker a Financial Deal

This week it was reported that the Russian Aviation and Space Agency has given ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass five days to come up with payment of roughly $20 million for a trip to the International Space Station this fall. While Bass’ supporters have blamed paperwork problems for the delay in payment, it was announced that if the money is not received by Friday Bass will not be permitted to join the mission, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 28th.

The following is a statement by muchmusic usa President Marc Juris on this important international issue:

“In the best interest of popular music, muchmusic usa believes Lance Bass should be able to fulfill his dream and that he should be sent into space for a very long period of time.”

“It deeply saddens us and our viewers that there is a risk that this historic day for space exploration and this much need break away from Mr. Bass may not occur.

“In an effort to help streamline the current standoff between Mr. Bass and the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, we at muchmusic usa have offered to pledge our vast financial resources to the tune of three dollars and ninety two cents…that’s American dollars. We hope this needed contribution will set the tone for others to contribute, so Mr. Bass can realize his dream.

“In addition, I am offering my leadership skills to help broker a deal between the two factions. I am ready to go at a moments notice if I am called. I have read the book The Right Stuff and seen the movie three times in its entirety, I am here as a resource if I can be of any help.

“On behalf of our viewers, if there is anything else muchmusic usa can do to make this vacation away from Mr. Bass – I mean historic space voyage happen – know we will be here waiting patiently. We wish the rocket man God’s speed.

“If the space thing does not work, may I suggest a long boat ride or maybe a cross country trip.”
