RUSH HD Becomes Second VOOM Channel Distributed by NonStop
New York, NY / Stockholm, Sweden – June 19, 2008 – Furthering the reach of its newly launched international RUSH HD channel, VOOM HD Networks has announced that NonStop Television AB will distribute RUSH HD into the Nordic and Baltic regions. Today’s news, which adds a second channel to the companies’ current agreement, was fueled by NonStop’s success with the VOOM HD brand, as well as the growing global demand for high-quality action sports programming.
Delivered in 1080i format high-definition with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, RUSH HD is a 24/7 high-definition channel dedicated to extreme sports and adrenaline-filled travel. Its pulse-pounding programming includes adrenaline-packed competitions featuring some of the world’s best athletes across a wide range of sports and one-of-a-kind expeditions into remote, uncharted territories. The channel, a strong performer for VOOM in the United States, recently made its international debut on BSkyB’s digital satellite platform in the United Kingdom.
"The early-adopting Nordic and Baltic markets are a natural next step for us with RUSH HD, and the team at NonStop has clearly demonstrated its strength in these regions through its success with VOOM HD, our first channel to launch globally," said Glenn Oakley, Senior Vice President, Global Operations and Business Development for VOOM HD Networks. "We look forward to NonStop’s continued success with RUSH HD."
Since initiating their distribution agreement in October 2006, VOOM HD Networks and NonStop Television AB have enjoyed great success in establishing the VOOM HD brand in the Scandinavian and Baltic regions. The VOOM HD channel is currently available in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia through leading operators.
"After our great success with VOOM HD, we are very happy to take on distribution of another high-profile HD channel from VOOM HD Networks," said Ignas Scheynius, CEO of NonStop Television. "RUSH HD makes a great complement to our lineup of niche channels."
In addition to RUSH HD, NonStop will represent standard-definition (SD) distribution of the channel.
