Orange TV is launching in Spain today as a part of its on demand offering Acorn TV, the streaming service of AMC Networks with the best television from Britain and from other English-speaking countries. Acorn TV offers subscribers of Orange TV a wide range of drama, mystery and comedy series and miniseries from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada, in both their Castilian dubbed and subtitled versions.

All Orange TV clients can subscribe to the biggest streaming service specializing in British series in North America, for only €3.99 a month. Furthermore, as a promotion upon its launch all subscribers who sign up to Acorn TV before June 9th will be able to enjoy the content free of charge during the first month.

Acorn TV’s launch within Orange TV’s broad catalogue of content is a step further in Orange’s collaboration with AMC Networks International Southern Europe (AMCNISE). The relationship was strengthened last year when the operator was the first to launch the on-demand service AMC Selekt, in addition to the thematic Terror bouquet (Dark and Planet Horror), the inclusion of the television channel Somos (as a part of the premium Spanish cinema bouquet of FlixOlé and Somos) and the recent launch of the linear channel SELEKT (the first to be programmed using artificial intelligence). All of this consolidates Orange’s platform as one of the most complete and varied offerings in Spain’s pay-TV market.

According to José Antonio Guzmán, Head of Strategy and Negotiation at Orange TV: “The essence of our offering is making sure our subscribers can access the best television content from the international market at any time. Thanks to the addition of Acorn TV, they will now also be able to enjoy an initial catalogue of more than 800 episodes of British productions provided by the service, whose prestige within the world of entertainment knows no borders.

As for Matthew Graham, Acorn TV’s General Manager: “We are very excited to continue expanding our distribution alongside Orange TV, one of the main telecommunications operators in Spain, and we are  eager for Orange viewers to have the opportunity to watch some of the very best in television from Britain and beyond, with most of these series available for the first time in Spain.”

At its launch on Orange TV in Spain, Acorn TV includes smash hit drama series like “Apple Tree Yard”, with a magnificent Emily Watson as a respected scientist, wife and mother whose life turns upside down after beginning an affair with a charismatic stranger; “Capital”, which tells the intertwining stories of the residents of a London street, winner of the International Emmy Award for Best Miniseries and starring an ensemble cast including veteran actors Toby Jones (“Infamous”, “The Hunger Games”) and Gemma Jones (“Sense and Sensibility”, “Bridget Jones’ Diary”); “Doc Martin”, a modern classic about an egocentric surgeon who moves to a seaside village; the legal Irish drama “Striking Out”; and “Collision”, with Douglas Henshall from “Shetland” as the leading actor.

For fans of British comedy, highlights include the dark and funny “No Offence” which follows a Detective Inspector (Joanna Scanlan) and her team in Manchester; “Finding Joy”, created, written and starring Irish comedian Amy Huberman (“Striking Out”, “The Clinic”) in the role of a woman whose new work assignment forces her to look for happiness in the most unusual of places; and “Kingdom”, starring Stephen Fry, a legend of British comedy, about a solicitor coping with his dysfunctional family, colleagues, and locals in a small Norfolk town.

In the mystery segment, subscribers will be able to watch “The Bletchley Circle”, about a group of World War II codebreakers who come together ten years later to solve a series of murders; “Inspector Morse”, based on the novels by Colin Dexter, about a detective and his trusted partner in Oxford; “Endeavor”, the prequel following the early career of Inspector Morse in the 1960’s and 70’s; “19-2”, the praised Canadian crime series following the personal and professional lives of two patrol officers in Montreal; acclaimed mystery series Agatha Christie’s Poirotstarring David Suchet as the iconic detective; the period drama “Grantchester” following a young, jazz-loving village vicar (James Norton) paired with a veteran and overworked policeman (Robson Green) in Cambridge; and the Australian “Picnic at Hanging Rock”, about a group of schoolgirls who mysteriously disappear during a trip to the historical and geological site Hanging Rock.
