Read All About It….As The Independent Film Channel Delivers First Edition Of ifcRANT At NCTA

IFC LAUNCHES ifcRANT Online at www.ifcRANT.com

ifcRANT Available at Rainbow Networks’ Booth #3901 and Press Bins at NCTA

The Independent Film Channel (IFC) brings film fans one step closer to the action with the debut edition of ifcRANT, the new consumer magazine bent on expanding the voice of independent film. The bi-monthly magazine embodies the style, the scene, and the people responsible for breaking the mold and shaking up Hollywood. Issues of ifcRANT are available at the National Show at Rainbow Networks’ Booth #3901 and at the show’s main press bins.

IFC has created its first interactive, cross-platform publication comprised of print, on-air, web and radio components. Published six times a year beginning with the May/June issue, ifcRANT gives a voice to those who are passionate about films and take real chances in filmmaking. The magazine also includes a special insert, IFC: The Guide, containing programming schedules and other information on the network.

ifcRANT’s cross-platform reach extends to ifcRANT online (www.ifcRANT.com). A virtual home for indie film lovers, the web site is an interactive experience featuring original content plus off-the-cuff roundtable discussions, as well as reader feedback, participation and polls. Visitors can participate in online chats with the ifcRANT staff and are encouraged to sound off and react candidly to ifcRANT’s editorial.

Visitors to the web site are able to access an interactive schedule of IFC programming, including video clips and descriptions, and can be customized to prompt users with daily e-mail reminders. The site also incorporates Broadband multimedia elements for high-speed users.

IFC has also created on-air ifcRANT components featuring celebrity and industry insider rants, news and views from some of the most vocal indie actors and filmmakers. Starting with Nick Nolte and Jim Jarmusch, the featurettes will air interstitially between IFC programming beginning this spring.

With the popularity and critical acclaim of independent film on the rise, ifcRANT expects to reach 1.5 million readers in its first year, and over 3 million in its second year. Published bi-monthly, ifcRANT will retail at newsstands and bookstores as well as through direct subscriptions. It will also be distributed at major film festivals and cable trade shows and exclusively at Clearview Cinemas and Landmark Theatres.

“Ultimately ifcRANT speaks to IFC’s passion for independent film; we want to both raise awareness for the average film-goer and be the nexus for the indie film lover,” says Caroline Bock, Senior Vice President, Marketing, The Independent Film Channel. “So read it, see it, listen to it, click to it,” she noted in a final rant.

ifcRANT is a publication of IFC, published six times per year as a co-venture with indieWIRE LLC. IFC is a part of Rainbow Media Holdings, Inc.
