JERICHO, New York, November 18, 2002 – With the holidays right around the corner, trendsetter, style guru and party planner to the stars, Colin Cowie offers a unique twist on the traditional ways of planning when WE: WOMEN'S ENTERTAINMENT presents Everyday Elegance Holiday Special With Colin Cowie premiering Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 PM ET. An encore performance will air Sunday, December 15 at 11:30 AM ET.

The one-hour special shows viewers how to create a holiday filled with memories that last a lifetime with tips on menus, décor, and presentation as well as advice on selecting the perfect gift for every name on your list.

Using his signature colors, a pale 1950's green and rich copper, the style guru transforms traditional holiday decoration into elegant and exciting design schemes. Burnt-out light bulbs are recycled into glamorous tree ornaments when Colin covers them with bronze spray paint. Old or worn-out ornaments are jacketed in velvets and embellished with shimmering trim, creating a whole new look from items that might otherwise be discarded. When it's trimmed, the tree sparkles brilliantly, especially following Colin's rule of thumb, 100 lights per foot of tree.

For his dinner, Colin does away with the traditional menu and buffet service. Instead he creates seven separate, individually themed stations, eliminating what he refers to as "the vulture syndrome," when all the guests descend upon the food at once.

Colin's plan keeps guests circulating through the party and allows him to experiment with different food and beverage themes. When guests arrive, they are greeted by a champagne station with glasses rimmed in caramel. Other tables include a caviar and vodka station, a turkey rollatini and zinfandel station, one serves cheeses and port station, another offers sausages and mustards, still another has fresh gravlax and aquavit, and finally a dessert station crowns the eclectic menu tour.

Colin also offers viewers advice on shopping for all the people in their lives. He suggests separating the list into three categories, family, friends, and business associates. For the first two, he explains how to find creative and personalized gifts that will really fit the recipient. For business associates and the like, Colin provides ideas and some less personal, yet elegant gift ideas.
