– Doors Open Friday, June 17th –
New York, New York, June 16, 2005 – On Friday, June 17th, the highly anticipated IFC Center will open its doors to the public, becoming the new bricks and mortar home of IFC, serving as a focal point for the independent film community – both to filmgoers and filmmakers alike. The new facility revitalizes the historic Waverly Theater building and will be an architecturally distinctive, state-of-the-art facility. The IFC Center will feature three theaters each equipped to screen 35mm and high-definition digital video, digital editing suites, and a restaurant.
The IFC Center now joins the established assets of Rainbow Media Holdings, including the national entertainment brands of AMC, IFC and WE: Women's Entertainment and a vast array of video on demand and HD services.
The following is a statement from Rainbow Media's President and CEO, Joshua Sapan:
"The IFC Center is a vibrant and organic illustration of Rainbow Media's commitment to supporting the independent creative community and expanding the IFC brand. The IFC Center is huge asset for us and it will be an instrumental ingredient as we continue to find innovative ways to create and release content. Friday night will be a very exciting moment for Rainbow and IFC. We congratulate everyone who has worked on this project."
