New York, NY — July 30, 2013 — Sundance Channel has teamed with GEICO and Hyundai in separate branded entertainment campaigns pegged to the upcoming non-fiction series “The Writers’ Room.” Produced in partnership with Entertainment Weekly, the roundtable talk show hosted by Academy Award© winning screenwriter, comedian and actor Jim Rash will delve deep into the world of TV’s creative masterminds, divulging inside details about their smartest choices, toughest decisions and biggest mistakes. Featured shows in the series include, “Breaking Bad,” “Game of Thrones,” “Dexter,” “American Horror Story,”“Parks and Recreation” and “The New Girl.”
“These partnerships are a great example of how Sundance Channel collaborates with its various clients to deepen the viewer experience around the networks’ shows and create unique customized content that demonstrates the distinctive voices of each individual brand,” stated Todd Schwartzman, SVP Integrated Sales, Sundance Channel.
GEICO’s campaign includes original “In the Room With” vignettes that feature the creative teams behind GEICO’s award-winning commercials. Shot on location at the Martin Agency in Virginia, each vignette gives viewers a look at the strategy and creative process that led to some of GEICO’s popular commercials, including “Good News” and “Maxwell the Pig”.
“We thought that the content integration opportunity with The Writers’ Room would be the perfect fit for GEICO and allow viewers to go behind GEICO’s iconic marketing campaign created by their creative partner, The Martin Agency,” said Kate Monaghan, Director of National Broadcast at Horizon Media, GEICO’s longtime media agency partner. “The longevity and success of the campaign relies on our ability to surprise people, to keep the work fresh and continually bring our audience something new and entertaining. Our partnership with Sundance involves the audience on an entirely different level by immersing them in the creative process of one of marketing’s most famous campaigns.”
Hyundai’s “One on One with the Writers” branded vignettes allow viewers to watch extended conversations with writers from Parks & Recreation, Breaking Bad and Dexter. In each vignette, one writer from each show answers questions that provide a deeper look into the life of the writer of a hit show. The writers featured include, Alan Yang (“Parks and Recreation”), Genny Hutchison (“Breaking Bad”) and Arika Mittman (“Dexter”).
“We’re thrilled to partner with Sundance and support The Writer’s Room,” said David Matathia, director of Marketing Communications for Hyundai Motor America. “We think it gives viewers a rare glimpse into the thinking and minds of these talented teams and provides unique access into the creative process.”
The vignettes began airing during the premiere of “The Writers’ Room” on July 29th.
