SUNDANCE SELECTS TAKES NORTH AMERICAN RIGHTS TO LAWRENCE MICHAEL LEVINE’S WILD CANARIES

NEW YORK, NY (December 23, 2014) – Sundance Selects announced today that the company is acquiring North American rights to Lawrence Michael Levine’s WILD CANARIES. The film, written and directed by Levine, stars Sophia Takal, Alia Shawkat, Jason Ritter, Kevin Corrigan and Levine, and was produced by Patrick Wood, Takal, Kim Sherman and E. McCabe Walsh. The film was executive produced by Andrew Corkin and Scott Chestman. WILD CANARIES had its world premiere at the 2014 South by Southwest Film Festival.

In this screwball murder mystery, an engaged Brooklyn couple suspects foul play in the death of their elderly neighbor. Enlisting the help of their smarmy roommate, the couple decides to investigate.

“Levine’s whimsical script and sharp eye for romantic comedy make this charming film at once modern and timeless,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

“When I started out as filmmaker, IFC was releasing the movies that inspired me most, something that they are still doing today. I am honored and completely thrilled that WILD CANARIES has found a home with IFC,” says Levine.

The deal was negotiated by Sean Berney, Manager of Acquisitions from Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with Cinetic Media on behalf of the filmmakers.

Sundance Selects is a sister label to IFC Films and IFC Midnight, and is owned and operated by AMC Networks Inc.
