New WEtv.com Site Features Original Web Series, Expert Bloggers, Social Media Applications, Contests and More
Content on New Site "Channels" Tied to Key Stages of A Woman’s Life
New York, NY – May 27, 2008 – WE tv unveils today a new online strategy for WEtv.com and a completely redesigned website with regularly refreshed and exclusive video content, including new original web series, comedic interstitials, user generated content, and advice from expert bloggers. New channels on WEtv.com will include "WE are Single," "WE go Bridal," "WE are Expecting" and "WE are Moms." A natural extension of the WE tv brand, the new site is designed to provide women with context-specific content that is relevant to her lifestyle, needs and interests during key stages of a her life.
"All women know one size does not fit all. So we’ve taken an entirely new approach to reaching women online-acknowledging significant stages in a woman’s life and designing channels that speak specifically to their interests," said Kim Martin, executive vice president and general manager for WE tv. We understand women and are committed to delivering destinations, both online and on television that entertain, inform and connect women with what they want, with one another and with what’s going on in the world around them."
New web-exclusive video content will roll out over the coming months and includes four original new web series. Hot Coffee Break, a mid-day male eye candy pick-me-up, features hot men spicing up everyday tasks both manly and mundane-video vignettes sure to become part of every woman’s daily routine. In Men WE Trust is a scripted web series that follows the lives of smart 30-something women as they navigate turbulent dating waters on the ultimate quest of finding love. Puppy Weddings is a celebration of love and commitment with some of the cutest creatures on the planet. Everyone loves puppies and every woman loves weddings; together they are an irresistible combination! She Got Game is a series that hits the shopping scene to surprise women as they’re trying on shoes, browsing designer bags, or coming out of the dressing room, and invites them to play a game to win the items they’re shopping for.
Within each channel, WEtv.com will provide exclusive, informative content in the categories of Relationships and Sex, Style, Travel, Health/Fitness, Money/Careers, and Food. Social media applications are also core to the new site, allowing women to connect, share and contribute to all of the content provided.
The new channels on www.WEtv.com include:
- WE are Single – this channel helps women navigate the singles scene with community tools and user generated video forums on which they can share their personal stories of horror and success. The channel will cover topics such as dating, compatibility, online dating etiquette and the complicated world of girlfriends. New original web series include Hot Coffee Break coming in July and In Men WE Trust scheduled to launch in August.
- WE Go Bridal – the online extension of WE tv’s successful wedding programming block, this channel is the leading destination for brides-to-be, showcasing originally produced content and user generated content. This fun, interactive, informative portal offers humor and simplicity to go along with the wedding planning process. Custom tools allow the bride to poll her friends on planning decisions, create a budget and share her experiences. In addition to offering practical advice, like ways to save for the big day and merging assets, "We Go Bridal" will also feature fun user-generated contests, including a hunt for the ugliest bridesmaid dress ever, and interactive applications, like Bridezilla Me, which lets visitors upload photos and turn themselves into their very own virtual Bridezilla reenacting various Bridezilla-like situations. The original web series coming to this channel in June is Puppy Weddings.
- WE are Expecting – calms, informs and supports women throughout their pregnancy with doctors, experts and real moms offering advice, humor and understanding. Forums and local mom-to-be gatherings give expecting moms numerous ways to connect with other women who are experiencing all the fears and excitement of having a baby. This channel will launch in August.
- WE are Moms – offers advice, a sympathetic ear and some comic relief for women balancing work, home, marriage, relationships AND children. Moms can connect with one another and share their stories, questions and concerns. The channel includes insight and advice on the sometimes overwhelming role of being a mom and finding balance and time for yourself. The channel will launch in September.
A new team of expert bloggers will contribute to each channel on a variety of topics such as dating (Live and Let Date), fashion (Lucky Girl), fitness (Work It Out), food (Seduction Meals), celebrity gossip (The Apple Pitt), relationships (Amy Vs. John), films (What’s Up, Chuck?), career advice (Working Girl) and more. New articles, Q&A’s and blogs from each contributor will be posted throughout each week.
In addition to new content and site applications, WEtv.com remains the in-depth source for all the information and exclusive content related to the WE tv network’s on-air programming. The new WEtv.com site features will roll out in stages over the next few months with all the categories and functionality available by fall 2008.
