WE TV NAMES ASHLEY MCFARLIN BUIE VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT

NEW YORK, NY — January 24, 2020 — WE tv announced today that seasoned unscripted industry veteran, Ashley McFarlin Buie has joined the network as vice president of development. Based in New York, she reports to David Stefanou, SVP of Original Programming & Development.

“Ashley is an extraordinary storyteller with a long history of crafting some of the most popular unscripted shows in television,” said Stefanou. “Her storytelling expertise and eye for talent make her a fantastic addition as we continue to cultivate even more hit series for WE tv’s passionate audience.”

As vice president of development, Buie oversees new and developing projects for WE tv and will serve as executive producer on the popular series, Beyond the Pole. WE tv’s programming slate includes some of the buzziest shows on television, including Thursday night phenomenon Braxton Family Values and hit franchise series such as, Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars, Growing Up Hip Hop, and Love After Lockup.

With over twenty years in the industry, Buie has garnered a strong reputation for crafting layered, elevated stories of larger-than-life characters that are real, relatable, and fiercely entertaining. She founded Bird’s Eye Entertainment, Inc., and has worked on a multitude of shows with various television networks including Bravo, Discovery, OWN, Oxygen, CNN, MTV, The Travel Channel, and VH1, producing popular series such as, Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Potomac (season one), The First Family of Hip Hop, and Southern Charm New Orleans (season one). She also produced VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop spin-off series Meet The Mackies, as well as VH1’s hit Girls Cruise, starring Lil’ Kim, Chilli, and Mya. Buie began her career as a production assistant at CNN.

Buie has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University, a guest lecturer at Yale and Clark Atlanta Universities; and as Co-Director of a non-profit teen empowerment organization based in Harlem: The Power of You Teens, Inc. She has also published a book of daily devotionals, The Truth: Wrapped In Love.
