PASADENA, CA, January 12, 2007 – WE tv tells the gripping stories of women sentenced to death in the sequel to its critically acclaimed documentary "Women on Death Row." The original two-hour special, "Women on Death Row 2," premieres Monday, February 26, 2007 at 9pm ET & PT/ 8 C as part of WE Spotlight and carries a rating of TV-14, DLV.

"Women on Death Row 2" examines the shocking circumstances surrounding four female inmates who find themselves either dealing with commuted sentences, in the midst of appeals, or acceptance as they await execution for crimes they have committed: Christa Pike, the youngest inmate on death row and ringleader in the horrific murder of a former acquaintance she believed was interested in her boyfriend; Melanie Anderson, who, with her boyfriend, was accused of physically abusing and eventually killing a 2 year-old child in their care; Deirdre Hunt, who was coerced and blackmailed into participating in the gruesome murders of two victims; and Elizabeth Green, who murdered for drugs.

Through intense first-person interviews, "Women on Death Row 2" chronicles what the inmates and their families have experienced since first hearing the death sentence verdicts. The documentary also captures the intricacies of the legal process as viewers watch lawyers present evidence and officers who handled the investigations discuss the facts of the case. Each of these women shares her own controversial story, providing a rare, up-close exploration of the extraordinary phenomenon of the women on death row. Also featured in the documentary are interviewees: Kathleen O'Shea, nun and author of the Pulitzer Prize nominated work, Women on the Row: Revelations From Both Sides of the Bars; Victor Streib, PhD, an expert on female death penalty cases; David Damore, former prosecutor for the Deidre Hunt case; and Richard Celeste, Former Governor of Ohio, who pardoned Elizabeth Green and commuted her death sentence to life.
