The following is a statement from WE tv General Manager and Executive Vice President Kim Martin:
"We are thrilled with last night's achievements. Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany was a passion project for WE tv and an example of the great original programming we are committed to building on the network. We congratulate Dan Meadows, Creative Street Entertainment, and the rest of the WE tv team for such a fantastic accomplishment."
Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany is a one-hour documentary, hosted by actress Dana Delany (China Beach). The documentary takes a close look at the young women sent half way around the world to serve in the difficult conditions of the Vietnam War. From the battlefield operating rooms to the hospitals in Saigon, Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany reveals the emotional story of women forever changed by the casualties of war. In their early 20's and untrained for combat conditions, the nurses performed under fire and continual threat amid a constant stream of wounded, saving thousands of lives. Often, soothing words and hand-holding were the only medicine as many young soldiers suffered and died from horrific wounds the nurses were helpless to treat – a reality that, more than 30 years later, still haunts them. Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany includes personal interviews with women who lost their innocence to war, but never lost their heart. It was produced for WE tv by Creative Street Entertainment with Annabelle McDonald serving as Executive Producer for the network.
