WE: Women’s Entertainment Presents “The Fashion Spectacular” This April

JERICHO, NY, March 1, 2001 – Remember your favorite pair of hot pants? The go-go boots you just had to have? Running out to get your “shag” haircut? Never wearing anything without shoulder pads? This April, WE: WOMEN’S ENTERTAINMENT celebrates our favorite fashions with THE FASHION SPECTACULAR. All month-long, WE turns to the movers and shakers of the fashion world – from the hottest designers, to the hippest fashion insiders — to take a behind-the-scenes look at what made the fashions of yesterday popular and who’s setting the trends of today.

THE FASHION SPECTACULAR will feature an explosion of movie marathons, original premiere specials and documentaries all dedicated to fashion trends, as well as interviews with today’s hottest designers. Kicking off on Saturday, April 7, supermodel Cindy Crawford examines how women have defined themselves with fashion throughout history when she hosts FASHION FLASHBACK, a four-part special airing every Saturday night. The original special will be followed each Saturday by ,HOOPSKIRT DREAMS, two back-to-back, fashion-infused movies.

THE FASHION SPECTACULAR will also feature three exclusive specials: The life and career of designer Donatella Versace will be profiled in a 30-minute documentary premiering Sunday, April 8; Vogue editor Anna Wintour is the subject of a one-hour documentary BOSS WOMEN, premiering on April 15; and WOMEN & SHOES: A LOVE STORY, a 30-minute special which examines women’s fascination with footwear, airs April 22. WE will also present episodes of the popular series GREAT ROMANCES, featuring two of this century’s most stylish personalities, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Oleg Cassini.

This installment of WE’s popular series, Great Romances, tells the story of fashion designer, Oleg Cassini. Cassini was revered in Hollywood, where in the 1940’s he designed costumes for the major studios. In the 1960’s, he became the official designer to Jacqueline Kennedy. He was known for styles ranging from sheath and A-line dresses to the Nehru jacket.
