Wedding Bells Ring at NCTA Mag Rack Announces its First-Ever User Submission Contest: “Novel Nuptials”

Call for Most Original Wedding Video Submissions June 12 – August 31

Chicago, Ill. NCTA – Tuesday, June 10, 2003 – Just in time for June's blushing brides, Mag Rack, Rainbow's unique video-on-demand (VOD) service, announced today an open call for wedding videos depicting the most unusual or exotic wedding scenarios for its first user submission contest, titled "Novel Nuptials." First-prize winners will be selected and aired across systems on Mag Rack's "Inside Weddings" video magazine in the fall of 2003.

"Mag Rack continues to define the boundaries of television with innovative promotions such as 'Novel Nuptials,'" said Matthew Strauss, executive vice president and general manager of Mag Rack. "Mag Rack is providing cable subscribers with a higher level of interactivity than previously available. For the first time, viewers have the ability to watch themselves in a television program on-demand."

"Mag Rack's unique television service is the perfect platform for progressive programming initiatives," adds Michael Connor, senior vice president, Programming and Production. "'Novel Nuptials' goes one step further than our Spring on Demand programming promotion by inviting viewers to actually play a role in engaging enthusiasts with their own personal stories."

"Inside Weddings" host and editor-in-chief of BRIDE'S Magazine, Millie Martini Bratten, will lead the final judging process. Winners will be chosen based on originality of idea, theme or location – for example, atop surfboards, underwater or while skydiving – as well as quality of video. The contest is open to legal residents 18 years or older of the United States. "Novel Nuptials" will be promoted on-air (including cross channel advertising), on www.magrack.com, in print and at local events in markets where Mag Rack is available.
