World Picks Names Kate Carr Vice President of Marketing

Former Head of Marketing for BBC America Tapped to Lead Marketing and Brand Development for World Picks On Demand and World Picks Networks

January 21, 2004 New York – World Picks, the preeminent provider of in-language, international on-demand programming services and international programming networks, today announced the appointment of Kate Carr as vice president of Marketing for World Picks. Ms. Carr will oversee marketing outreach and brand development strategies for World Picks On Demand and World Picks Networks and will report to Cynthia Burnell, the senior vice president and general manager of World Picks. In her new position, Ms. Carr’s responsibilities will include creating and guiding the trade and consumer marketing efforts for World Picks On Demand and World Picks Networks. She will also be in charge of establishing and positioning brand identity for the two services and effectively communicating World Picks features and benefits to U.S. distributors and consumers.

Prior to joining World Picks, Ms. Carr most recently served as the Head of Marketing for BBC America where she was charged with helping to build the recently launched BBC cable network in the United States. During her tenure, Ms. Carr was closely involved with developing award winning advertising campaigns and she played a critical role in establishing the network’s distinctive identity, which resulted in TV Guide tapping BBC America as the “hottest new import”.

The World Picks services were unveiled in November of 2003 and are currently available on Cablevision’s iO digital cable service to local communities throughout the New York metro area. World Picks On Demand consists of four on-demand services (Latino, Hindi, Mandarin and Russian) and the World Picks Networks is an array of 13 international networks from around the world.
