Wedding Central Launches on Time Warner Cable’s East Region/New York City Market on Channel 94

New York, NY – November 8, 2010 – Wedding Central, the only network devoted exclusively to wedding-related programming, is now available to Time Warner Cable’s East Region/New York City area customers on channel 94. The system will add the multiplatform, all-things-wedding network to its digital basic tier, currently reaching over one million homes in Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, western Brooklyn, Mt. Vernon and Hudson Valley, NY and Bergen County, NJ.

"Launching in the number one market in the country speaks volumes about the popular programming on Wedding Central, the desirable audience of young women the network attracts and the value we bring to distributors," said Kim Martin, president and general manager, WE tv & Wedding Central. "We’re thrilled to be a part of Time Warner Cable’s East Region/New York City digital channel line-up, providing the savvy women of New York City with the only television network dedicated to exciting, entertaining wedding content."

To celebrate the network’s launch and to introduce Time Warner Cable’s NYC area customers to the channel, Wedding Central will host an interactive "shoe dive" on Tuesday, November 9, in NYC’s Madison Square Park. The "If the Shoe Fits" event will feature over 30 brides outfitted in full wedding regalia in a race to uncover a coveted, designer wedding shoe by rummaging through hundreds of shoe boxes piled under a 20-foot Wedding Central stiletto. The first bride to race to the judges table with a designer shoe that fits will win not just the wedding shoes, but also $5,000 towards her wedding and a bridal package featuring essentials from the network’s wedding experts. The package includes: wedding invitations from Ceci New York; a custom wedding cake from Ron Ben-Israel Cakes; and a wedding consultation with event stylist Diann Valentine. The event’s judges include Wedding Central’s Diann Valentine and Ceci Johnson, and The Frisky.com’s Annika Harris.

Following the event, all gowns worn by the brides will be donated to Wish Upon A Wedding, the world’s first nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and life-altering conditions.

As the city that plays host to more wedding celebrations than any other in the U.S., New York is a natural fit for Wedding Central. Weddings are a big business for the city, which outranks the rest of the country in terms of average cost; the average New York City wedding costs more than $31,000, which is $11,000 above the national average. In addition, each year, wedding spending reaches nearly a total of $2 billion in New York City.*
