Comcast and MuchMusic USA Announce Partnership for Second Annual Interactive “Class Dismissed” Promotion

Philadelphia, PA (March 13, 2002) – Comcast Cable Communications, Inc., the country’s third-largest cable company, and Rainbow Media’s MuchMusic USA, the nation’s only viewer-driven all music network, today announced that they are partnering to offer high-school students an opportunity to win an exclusive concert at their school with Warner Brothers multi-platinum recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls.

MuchMusic USA’s Second Annual “Class Dismissed” contest is a unique on-air and online initiative to offer viewers nationwide the ability to create and submit their own music video, while promoting the usage of high-speed, cable-powered Web connections. Students can enter the contest by creating their own online music video for the Goo Goo Dolls number one hit song, “Slide,” at MuchMusic USA’s Web site (www.mmusa.tv). One grand prize winner will be awarded a special performance by the band, which will include songs from their seventh album Gutterflower, being released April 9. Class Dismissed programming, which will feature the Goo Goo Dolls concert along with documentary footage of the contest winner’s visit with the band, will air on Comcast systems nationwide on June 30.

As part of the partnership, Comcast is currently promoting the contest via its Web site (www.comcast.com), through cross-channel television advertising and with point-of-purchase displays at retail kiosk locations throughout its service areas. Visitors to Comcast’s kiosk locations will have the opportunity to enter the contest viand experience the fast, always-on Web connection offered by Comcast High-Speed Internet service.
