COMEDY BANG! BANG! PASSES THE MIC TO KID CUDI

Recording Artist and Actor Becomes Musical Co-Star Starting This Summer

New York, NY – February 19, 2015 – Kid Cudi (Man on the Moon III, Need for Speed,) has worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West and Mary J. Blige and he is gearing up for his biggest collaboration yet… with Scott Aukerman. No stranger to creative partnerships (see http://bit.ly/1wCMn7L), Cudi will bring his unique beats and musical skills to the set of Comedy Bang! Bang! as Scott’s new co-star starting Friday, July 10 at 11pm ET/PT on IFC.

“I can’t wait to start this new chapter of Comedy Bang! Bang! with Kid Cudi,” said Scott Aukerman.  “When he was on the couch, I knew he had charisma and star quality, but I thought he should move slightly camera right.  Plus, my wife and I have been trying to have a kid for several years, and this is the next best thing.”

Kid Cudi’s impressive musical career has won him two Grammys, garnered nominations for 25 awards and sold 12.5 million digital singles to date. His fourth studio album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, was released last February and the follow-up Man on the Moon III is expected soon. Cudi has shown his chops playing comic relief opposite Aaron Paul in Need for Speed, and will play Ari Gold’s assistant, Allen in the upcoming Entourage movie this June. He also appeared on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, voiced a guest character on The Cleveland Show and was a series regular on HBO’s How to Make It in America.

Current Comedy Bang! Bang! bandleader Reggie Watts will be setting sail for the Late Late Show with James Corden on March 23, but will remain in the first 20 episodes of this season until Aukerman wishes him a very fitting bon voyage on June 5. Kid Cudi will then take the reins as musical co-star a month later. Be on the lookout for not only his impressive musical skills to shine but also his acting prowess as he joins Scott in various sketches throughout the season.

Prior to his new co-starring gig, Kid Cudi will make his first appearance on Comedy Bang! Bang! as a couch guest this Friday, February 20. Comedy Bang! Bang! opened its fourth season on January 9 on IFC, launching a 40-episode run for the show that throws the normal late night talk show format out the window. Guests joining Scott on the couch this season include Ty Burrell, Mark Duplass, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Zach Galifianakis, former NFLer Eddie George, Simon Helberg, Maya Rudolph and Dax Shepard. Guest stars stopping by from the world of music include Schoolboy Q, Jack Antonoff, Twin Shadow and Tears for Fears.

The series is produced for IFC by Abso Lutely Productions; Scott Aukerman and Dave Kneebone serve as executive producers.

The complete first two seasons as well as the first half of season three are currently available for instant streaming on Netflix.
