Day #3 of the 2010 Cable Show

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 13, 2010 – At the 2010 Cable Show, Rainbow Media showcases its national networks AMC, WE tv, IFC and Sundance Channel and IFC Films’ transactional VOD services. Rainbow’s unprecedented year of growth extends across all of its brands and platforms. The momentum has been propelled by AMC’s award-winning originals; first quarter record ratings delivery at WE tv; a new brand and tagline at IFC, "Always On. Slightly Off."; Sundance Channel’s launch of an original scripted strategy; and IFC Films’ growth on its VOD film distribution platform. The Rainbow booth is located in Hall H of the exhibit floor, #1339.

Sundance Channel brings viewers up-to-date on the saga of iconoclastic figure skater Johnny Weir with a special one-hour episode of its popular original docu-series "Be Good Johnny Weir." Premiering Sunday, June 27 at 9PM/8C, this revealing special tells the story behind what is arguably the biggest controversy of the 2010 Winter Olympics: Johnny’s shut-out at the medal podium. Though Johnny skated two of his best performances ever, the judges placed him behind skaters whose programs were filled with mistakes. It shocked sports journalists as well as fans, and Johnny’s supporters believe that he was "robbed." But the drama didn’t end with the judging. In the face of snide and belittling media commentary about his gender, Johnny tackled the issue head-on in a press conference. Post-Vancouver, Johnny remains in the media spotlight even as he finds himself at a major crossroads in his life. What should he do next, and will he continue skating? The special follows the indomitable skater as he copes with the hullabaloo and meets with people who matter most to him, to weigh his options and consider his future.

Research is one business tool that is used differently by each business that employs it. Used well, it’s integral to the business’s agenda — helping create a vision for the future, unlocking the secrets to success. Used poorly, it can manipulate, mislead, confuse – or sit on a shelf neglected. Shapiro will discuss the way he uses data, and how the shifting consumer-led revolution demands a change in the way the C-Suite incorporates research.

General Session (following Shapiro’s keynote address): "Using Research to Drive Results – What Executives Really Need to Get the Job Done"

Session Description:
The "C" suite sets the business strategy and seeks actionable information to drive growth. Obtaining essential information about what’s working and not working are vital for effective research planning, proper funding and keeping research relevant. Attendees will hear examples of how market research investments have contributed to better decision-making and how researchers can break through and influence corporate decision makers.

Moderator: Char Beales, President & CEO, CTAM
