Eight Local Youth Crowned Baseball Skills Champions at Jacobs Field

Winners Will Throw Out First Pitch at Indians Game September 6 and 7


CLEVELAND – On Friday, August 25, 49 boys and girls from the Cleveland area competed for the title of champion in the fifth annual Cleveland Indians/FOX Sports Net Baseball Skills Competition. The four boys and four girls crowned as the champions will throw out the first pitch prior to the Wednesday, September 6, and Thursday, September 7, Tribe games against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. University Hospitals Health System was the presenting sponsor of the eight-week Skills Competition.


Boys and girls competed separately in four age categories (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14). During the local contests and the finals competition, players competed individually in hitting, pitching, and running. The participant with the highest score in each age group advanced to the finals competition at Jacobs Field.


The eight Baseball Skills Champions were the ultimate winners in the competition. Each received three (3) tickets to sit in the FOX Sports Net Diamond Suite and the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at an Indians game.


The Girls Baseball Skills Champions will throw out the first pitch at the Wednesday, September 6, Cleveland Indians/Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. CEREMONY BEGINS AT 6:45 PM.
