FOX Sports Net Florida Announces 2000-01 Florida Panthers Season Telecast Coverage

(SUNRISE, FL) – FOX Sports Net Florida and the Florida Panthers today announced a comprehensive 75-game Florida Panthers NHL live telecast schedule exclusively on FOX Sports Net. The announcement was made by Rod Mickler, FOX Sports Net Florida Senior Vice President/General Manager and Bill Torrey, President of the Florida Panthers.


FOX Sports Net’s 75-game schedule will get underway on Friday, October 6 when the Florida Panthers host the Vancouver Canucks. Coverage begins at 7:00pm with FOX Sports Net’s Panthers pregame show hosted by Randy Moller. Returning for their eighth season as the Florida Panthers’ telecast team is the popular duo of play-by-play announcer Jeff Rimer and NHL Hall of Famer Denis Potvin as color analyst. The duo has been with the club since its inception and have become well-known locally and nationally as one of the best hockey announcing teams in the NHL.


FOX Sports Net will provide Panthers fans a 75-game telecast schedule including 41 away and 34 home match ups. Key Panthers home match ups on FOX Sports Net include home games against the Vancouver Canucks, when Pavel Bure is expected to face his old club for the first time (Oct. 6), the defending Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils (Oct. 25 & Dec. 22), Southeast Division Champion Washington Capitals (Nov. 4 & Mar. 23), in-state rival Tampa Bay Lightning (Nov. 25, Jan. 27 & Mar. 30) and both of the NHL’s newest additions, the Minnesota Wild (Feb. 7) and the Columbus Blue Jackets (Mar. 9).


FOX Sports Net will take Panthers fans on the road for 41 telecasts including games against New Jersey (Oct. 30 & Feb. 26), Colorado (Oct. 20), Tampa Bay (Nov. 24 & Jan. 30), Detroit (Dec. 13), NY Rangers (Dec. 18 & Feb. 26), Washington (Dec. 23, Jan. 24, Apr. 5), NY Islanders (Feb. 24, Mar. 11), and a west coast trip against Anaheim (Jan. 3), Los Angeles (Jan.4) and San Jose (Jan. 6).

In addition to the 75 live telecasts, FOX Sports Net will bring viewers weekly and season long programming on the Florida Panthers. Details on special Panthers programming will be available in the coming weeks.


FOX Sports Net’s newest live sports news shows to keep Panthers fans on top of the latest news on the ‘Cats and all of Florida’s home teams, include FLORIDA SPORTS TONIGHT, which airs Monday through Friday at 7pm when there is no MLB or NHL pregame show scheduled at that time and the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT seven nights a week. Viewers can count on anchors Ned Smith, Keith Lebowitz and Randy McIlvoy along with South Florida reporter Joe Zagacki, Central Florida reporter Sage Steele and North Florida reporter Mike Nabors to stay informed of the day’s top sports news stories from around the state.
