Fox Sports Net Ohio To Air 85 Cincinnati Reds Games During The 2001 Regular Season


Real Reds, Presented by AE Door Sales, returns as Fox Sports Net’s
Pregame Show Airing Prior to Every Game Telecast


CINCINNATI – Providing fans the best in regional sports television and the most comprehensive coverage of Cincinnati Reds baseball, Fox Sports Net Ohio today announced it will air 85 Cincinnati Reds games during the upcoming 2001 regular season. Steve Liverani, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Fox Sports Net Ohio, made the announcement.

Back this season, is Real Reds, presented by AE Door Sales. Kicking off with an hour-long special on Opening Day – April 2 at noon, Real Reds will be co-hosted by Jeff Piecoro and Dan Hoard, Real Reds provides fans with commentary, features and in-depth pregame coverage of the Cincinnati Reds. Fox Sports Net’s Cincinnati Reds pregame show will now be seen 30 minutes prior to every game telecast

“We’re very excited about the new format of Real Reds which includes expanded coverage of the team before both home and road games this year,” said Liverani. “As the team continues to create excitement among its fans, we wanted to continue to provide the most comprehensive coverage available and believed this was a perfect opportunity.”

The Cincinnati Reds will start the 2001 season on Fox Sports Net with three spring training match-ups. On Sunday, March 11 (1:00 PM) the Reds face the Texas Rangers. The second game will be Thursday, March 22 (1:00 PM) against the Toronto Blue Jays. The final preseason game airing on Fox Sports Net will be on Friday, March 23 at 1:00 PM against the Boston Red Sox (replay 3/23 @ 7:30 PM).

The Cincinnati Reds regular season on Fox Sports Net begins with the Monday, April 2, season opener against the Atlanta Braves (1:00 PM). Other key highlights on Fox Sports Net include four games against the New York Mets and 12 games against the St. Louis Cardinals.

George Grande, beginning his ninth season on Fox Sports Net, will be responsible for all the play-by-play duties. His partner, former big league pitcher, Chris Welsh, returns for his eighth season as the Reds color commentator.

Mark Goldsmith is the director and Mark Balk is the producer for all the games on Fox Sports Net. Brian Hunterman will produce the pregame show.
