SAN FRANCISCO, CA – In celebration of Black History Month, FSN Bay Area has produced 10 separate Black History Month television vignettes highlighting the achievements of influential African-Americans. The vignettes will air during FSN Bay Area’s Golden State Warriors telecasts in the month of February. Former Warriors Al Attles and Nate Thurmond narrate the segments.
Bill Russell – First African American NBA head coach
Earl Lloyd – First African American to play in NBA
Don Barksdale – First African American to play in an NBA All-Star game
John Thompson – First African American head coach to win NCAA tournament
Robert Johnson – First African American to own an NBA franchise
Ida Jackson – First African American high school teacher in California
Martin Luther King – American clergyman and civil-rights leader
Oakland Larks – A west coast Negro league baseball team from the 1940s
Artie Wilson – First African American to play for Oakland Oaks, a PCL team
Condoleezza Rice – First African American woman to be Secretary of State
