New York, NY — September 25, 2012 — IFC Films announced today that the company is acquiring all North American rights to director Michael Walker’s comedy PRICE CHECK. Walker also wrote the screenplay for the film, with Parker Posey, Eric Mabius, Annie Parisse, Josh Pais, Cheyenne Jackson, and Edward Herrmann starring. Dolly Hall produced the picture, which made its world premiere at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. IFC Films will release the film on VOD on October 11th and theatrically on November 16th.
In PRICE CHECK, Pete Cozy (Mabius) has found himself a house in the suburbs and a job in the pricing department of a middling supermarket chain. Pete’s job allows him to spend quality time with his wife and young son and, despite the fact that they are drowning in debts, they appear happy. Everything changes when Pete gets a new boss, the beautiful, high-powered, fast talking Susan Felders (Posey). With Susan’s influence, Pete finds himself on the executive track…something that both surprises and excites him. The more his salary increases, the more he has to perform at work and the less time he gets to spend with his family. At the same time, his relationship with his boss begins to cross the line of professional etiquette. Both become enamored with one another creating tension in the workplace and in his personal home life. PRICE CHECK is a smart and honest comedy that examines who we think we are and what were willing to do for the life we think we deserve.
Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: “Michael Walker has made a thoughtful and impressive film featuring a return to the screen by Parker Posey that is a gift to her fans and one of her most hilarious, nuanced performances. We’re also happy to be working with our long time friend Dolly Hall.”
The deal for PRICE CHECK was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Josh Braun at Submarine Entertainment on behalf of the filmmakers.
