MUSIC INDUSTRY LEGEND DEB ANTNEY SEARCHES FOR HOTTEST FEMALE MC IN ALLBLK’S FIRST COMPETITION REALITY SERIES, DEB’S HOUSE

ALLBLK Also Announces New Seasons of Popular Series Kold x Windy, Makeup x Breakup, My Mane Problem and Wicked City

PASADENA, CA – February 6, 2024 – ALLBLK, the popular streaming service for Black television and film from AMC Networks, today announced the greenlight of Deb’s House. The new, unscripted series follows famed music mogul Deb Antney, who pioneered the careers of several high-profile artists such as Gucci Mane, French Montana and Nicki Minaj, as she embarks on a nationwide hunt for rap’s next female superstar MC. The series is set to premiere this summer, exclusively on ALLBLK.

Armed with 25 years of industry wisdom, Deb Antney is on a mission to uncover and shape the future of female rap talent. After identifying eight up-and-coming artists, the ladies move into Deb’s House, competing to become her next rap protégé. Beyond seeking exceptional lyricism, Ms. Deb is seeking women with unwavering dedication and the willingness to make sacrifices on the road to hip-hop stardom. Completely stripped down to their raw potential, the competition unfolds as a fierce test of sisterhood, resilience, and talent, where only the most tenacious can be crowned as Ms. Deb’s “chosen one.” Who will shoot to the top of the charts and who will crumble under the pressure? Find out this season on Deb’s House.

“I envisioned a competition show that deviates from the norm—one centered around personal growth and self-competition, said Deb Antney. Collaborating with (co-creator and co-EP) Rasheed to bring this vision to life has been an incredible journey. Witnessing the music industry veer away from artist development towards a focus on superficiality and explicit content prompted my desire to return to the core values of true lyricism and mentorship. The search for the next female rap sensation in Deb’s House is my way of reigniting that passion. The selection of our show as ALLBLK’s first commissioned competition reality series is truly thrilling. My sincere appreciation goes to my AMC Networks family, particularly Brett Dismuke, for their steadfast belief in this transformative project.”

“Deb Antney is no stranger to the AMC Networks family, appearing on popular WE tv series Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta, Waka & Tammy and Executive Producing the upcoming scripted series Bev Is Boss, said Brett Dismuke, Head of Content, ALLBLK & WE tv. “Ms. Deb is a pioneer and influential voice across the music industry who has discovered, established, and guided the careers of some of hip-hop’s most prolific and successful artists. We cannot wait for our ALLBLK audience to join the search and ultimately see who Ms. Deb crowns as the next iconic female MC.”

Deb’s House is Executive Produced and Created by the partnership of Deb Antney and Rasheed J. Daniel. Vanessa Phillips serves as Co-executive Producer for TeamSheed and Tina Brinkley Potts serves as Co-executive Producer for TAG Multimedia.

Angela Molloy, SVP, Development & Original Production, Unscripted, LeAnn Scrimmager, Manger Development & Original Production, Unscripted and Sean Charles, Manager Development & Original Production, Scripted & Unscripted Executive Produce for ALLBLK.

With this news, ALLBLK also shares the renewal of four popular series – all airing later this year: Kold x Windy, Makeup x Breakup, My Mane Problem and Wicked City:

  • Originally airing on sister network, WE tv, Kold x Windy will launch its sophomore season on ALLBLK this summer. Female rap duo Malika “Kold” Wise and Renee “Windy” Johnson are back as they continue to navigate the dangers of the drill music game and the streets of Chicago.
  • Returning for its third installment, Makeup x Breakup fast forwards to present day, focusing on the different ways love presents itself by breaking all the rules and challenging traditional norms. The theme for this season, ‘Battle of the Brides,’ follows Brooke and Laura as the rivals go head-to-head to see who will have the most talked-about wedding. On the outskirts of all the drama, Blake and Lyric reconnect and pick up where they left off, while Spencer struggles to bypass temptation. Through the chaos, the couples discover who they are and what makes their relationships work. As they embark on a quest to find their happy endings, everyone goes on a journey to experience true love. With New York as the backdrop, they fight to see clearly through the glaring lights. In the end, will their dreams come true, or will someone end up settling?
  • Celebrity stylist Dr. Boogie is back as he gives renewed hope and self-confidence to real people confronting very personal hair journeys as My Mane Problem returns for its second season. A bad hairstyle can look, feel and be life-ruining, however, Dr. Boogie is here to transform individuals in an amazing way but also dig deeper to fix what’s going on inside and OUTside their head.
  • ALLBLK’s supernatural drama Wicked City returns for a third season with the coven of Black witches continuing to push their supernatural powers to new heights, uncovering dark secrets and attracting the most dangerous of enemies in the city of Atlanta.

“These series have all been strong performers on ALLBLK in terms of viewership and acquisition and have all generated incredibly positive responses from our subscribers,” said Dismuke. “They also demonstrate ALLBLK’s commitment to creating compelling content from Black creators and storytellers. Makeup x Breakup, My Mane Problem, Kold x Windy and Wicked City are a great reflection of the diversity of programming that makes ALLBLK such a dynamic streaming destination and these shows underscore our commitment to programming excellence and giving viewers what they want. 2024 will be a great year on ALLBLK, driven in large part by these popular returning titles.”
